Sadiyamma

Known for its metal production, the quaint town of Mannar, Kerala is home to the experienced hands of Sadiyamma. At 54 years of age and nearly 26 years of experience Sadiyamma is the only female worker in the workshop while also being the sole breadwinner for her family.

Sadiyamma who meticulously prepares the clay for the moulds, takes great pride in explaining the importance of her role in the process of metal production. Sadiyamma’s smiling face and calloused hands, reflect the respect and dedication that she takes in her art and herself.
